In the immediate aftermath of a rape or sexual assault, get to a safe place as quickly as possible.
If you require Emergency Services call 999.
You can access our private Helpline on 1800 478 478. We can explain your options and what to do next. For support outside of office hours, contact The Rape Crisis 24 Hour National Helpline on 1800 778 888.
If you wish to report the assault, call the Garda station nearest to the location where the assault took place. Click here to find the nearest Garda station.
You do not need to decide immediately whether to report the assault. To give yourself the option of doing so at a future point, you can attend the Sexual Assault Treatment Unit (SATU) at Waterford Regional Hospital.
SATU's provide specialist care for women and men who have recently been sexually assaulted or raped. If you are under 18 years of age you must have a parent or legal guardian with you to give permission for a forensic examination.
The SATU services respond to requests from Gardaí to aid the legal process and also provide services for people who do not wish to report the incident. There is no charge for any of the SATU services or follow up appointments.
